Don’t you just love that moment when a brand-new Stampin’ Up!® catalog drops and you don’t even know where to start? That was me with this Balloon Festoon bundle – balloons, bold sentiments, and so many ways to play.

For night 2 of my Catalog Kickoff, I wanted to show you just how versatile this set is. We’re making four different handmade cards using the same bundle – all with a Pool Party, Lost Lagoon, and Pretty Peacock color combo that feels fresh, fun, and just a little bit fancy.

If you want to see these come together step-by-step (and pick up a few tricks along the way), make sure you check out the video below – then scroll down to see all four card ideas up close.

Supply List for these Balloon Festoon Cards
Handmade birthday card with layered balloons using Stampin’ Up!® Balloon Fest bundle. Features ink blending, stamped textures, and simple cardmaking techniques for dimension and shine.

Layered Balloon Birthday Card

This is the card I’ll be making during the live, and it’s such a great example of how a few simple techniques can really elevate your cardmaking.

I started with a Gray Granite background and added three oversized balloons die cut from Pool Party, Lost Lagoon, and Pretty Peacock. To give them more personality, I stamped each balloon with a different background pattern – small dots, large dots, and stars. Then I used a blending brush in the same color as each balloon to add soft shading around the edges for that rounded, dimensional look.

To finish it off, I added white gel pen highlights (don’t skip this – it makes such a difference!), a hand-cut “Happy Birthday” sentiment, and a few Sunset Sparkle sequins for just the right amount of shine.

Clean & Simple Celebration Card

This one skips the balloons completely and still feels like a party.

I used that long, swoopy “loop-de-loop” stamp to create a playful background across white cardstock. After stamping it multiple times, I trimmed the bottom portion away to create a gap, then layered in a strip of Pool Party cardstock stamped with stars behind it.

The “Hip Hip Hooray” sentiment is stamped in Pool Party and punched out with the rounded rectangle punch. And those adorable stars? They’re Wonderful Stars Puffy Stickers – colored with a Dark Pool Party Stampin’ Blends marker to match perfectly. Such an easy customization trick!
Clean and simple handmade card using Stampin’ Up!® Balloon Fest bundle without balloons. Features stamped background, layered paper crafting design, and custom-colored embellishments.
Bold handmade congratulations card using Stampin’ Up!® Balloon Fest bundle. Features tone-on-tone stamping, layered design, and creative sentiment cutting technique.

Bold Layered Congratulations Card

If you love rich color and layered designs, this one is calling your name.

I went all in with Pretty Peacock for the base and stamped a tone-on-tone “hip hip hooray” background for subtle texture. The focal panel features balloons stamped in Pool Party and layered over a Pretty Peacock background stamped with stars.

The sentiment strip is where things get fun – I stamped “you did it” on Pool Party cardstock, then trimmed around the letters so parts of the sentiment extend beyond the strip. It’s a small detail, but it adds so much visual interest.

Add a few sequins, and you’ve got a bold, celebratory card that really pops.

Soft Stamped Balloon Background Card

This one has a completely different feel – soft, layered, and almost dreamy.

Instead of die cutting, I stamped overlapping balloons directly onto white cardstock using Pool Party, Lemon Lolly, and Soft Seafoam. The translucent look you get from layering those images is just so pretty.

The background is Pool Party stamped with large polka dots for a little extra texture. Because the colors are softer, I stamped the “Hip Hip Hooray” sentiment in Seaside Spray to give it a bit more contrast and help it stand out.

A few sequins finish it off and tie everything together.
