Color with Paper with the Easy Paper Piecing Technique

I have always loved collage work. I remember reading picture books by Leo Lionni like Frederick when I was a kid and being in awe of the collage artwork illustrations. I just loved the different patterns and colors put together to create the pictures. 

The paper piecing technique creates a similar look and is so easy to do - although a little time consuming at times. I shared how to do this fun card-making technique during this week's Stamp with Me Tuesday. You can see the replay of the YouTube live below.

Colorful Handmade Card for Summer

I used the Ice Cream Swirl stamp set and coordinating dies from Stampin' Up!®️ for this handmade card that is perfect for summer. Line image stamps with heavy lines and little detail like this one are perfect for this technique. 

I created the ice cream with two different pieces of the Unbounded Beauty patterned paper. Can you see the flowers in the Petunia Pop piece? The ice cream cone is made with the Neutrals 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper in Pecan Pie. I used an embossing folder on the top of the background and added glimmer to the stripes with a Wink of Stella marker. 

Send a Little Sunshine with a Handmade Card

I could have easily colored these surfboards, but I wanted them to have fun patterns too. So, I used the Brights 6" x 6" patterned paper to do the paper piecing technique.

First I stamped the surfboards on Basic White cardstock using the Beach Day stamp set and I cut them out with the coordinating dies. Then, I stamped them again on patterned paper. I carefully cut around the different sections and adhered them to the Basic White surfboards. 

I used other Beach Day dies to create the sand, waves, and sun. Then, I used the Bright Skies dies to create the cloud.
