How to do the Faux Torn Paper Technique

The easiest way to do the Faux Torn Paper card making technique is to use masking paper. This is sticky paper that you can temporary adhere to your cardstock to cover an area you don't want to get ink.

Start with a strip that's about 2 1/2" x 6". Tear it in half and adhere the two strips to a piece of white cardstock. Then, use a blending brush to add 2-3 colors of ink to the area between the two pieces of masking paper. Stamp your favorite images, like these from the Market Goodness stamp set. Finally, remove the masking paper to reveal the Faux Torn Paper area.

Easy DIY Birthday Card

I used the Faux Torn Paper card making technique to make a quick and easy birthday card. For this card design, I used the Happiest Day stamp set from Stampin' Up!

I added Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry ink with a blending brush to the center of the card. Then, I stamped the rainbows in Coastal Cabana, Pretty Peacock, and Melon Mambo. The sentiment is stamped with Coastal Cabana ink on a piece of Basic White punched with the Modern Hexagon punch.

News Flash: This Handmade Card is Easy to Make

My last handmade card sample with the faux torn paper rubber stamping technique uses the Tune In stamp set and dies.

I added Pool Party, Summer Splash, and Pretty Peacock ink with a blending brush. Then, I stamped the images in Summer Splash and Pretty Peacock. For the stars, I adhere glimmer paper to a piece of foam adhesive sheet and cut them out with the Tune In dies. Then, I adhered them to the card front.
