If you’ve ever stared at your pile of patterned paper and thought, “I don’t even know where to start,” today’s post is for you.

This week’s Stamp with Me Tuesday is all about a super simple card sketch – the kind that lets your paper shine and makes cardmaking feel easy instead of overwhelming. And yes, there’s a free downloadable project sheet with all the measurements waiting for you below.

This layout is clean. It’s flexible. It’s quick, easy, wow. And I’m sharing four completely different handmade cards using the exact same sketch so you can see just how versatile it really is.

Be sure to click "Read More" for the video tutorial, all four card samples, and your free project sheet.

In this week’s Stamp with Me Tuesday live, I walk you through the sketch step by step and show you exactly how these cards come together using rubber stamping, patterned paper, and simple layering.

Simple vertical card sketch layout with full patterned paper background, narrow patterned strip, and layered sentiment panel.

The Card Sketch

This is one of those “keep forever” card templates.

Measurements:
  • Cardstock: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
  • Patterned Paper: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
  • Patterned Paper: 1 1/4" x 5 1/2"
  • Cardstock: 3 3/8" x 1 5/8"
  • White or Vanilla: 3 1/4" x 1 1/2"

That’s it. Clean lines. Simple layers. Endless possibilities.

Hello Card with Some Sweet Bugs

This sweet little card uses the Sweet Bugs stamp set with the Cute as a Bug Designer Series Paper – which, by the way, is one of the featured products for our Spring Creative Escape.

I paired the mushroom print with the red checked pattern that looks like a picnic blanket. The sentiment “Hello, friend” sits front and center, layered over that bold background.

The little worm holding the leaf like an umbrella is just too cute. I stamped him in black, colored him with Daffodil Delight, Real Red, and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends, then die cut him with the coordinating dies. I finished it off with Earthy Matte Dots for just a little pop of texture.

If you’re joining us for Spring Creative Escape, we have so many fun ideas planned with this set!

Brighten Someone's Day with a Handmade Card

This one features the brand new Springtime Scenes bundle – one of the March Online Exclusives. Online Exclusives are kind of like the secret menu of Stampin’ Up!® products. You won’t see them in a catalog, but they’re available online while supplies last.

We'll also be using this fabulous stamp set for the April Online Card Class.

I stamped the large leaf in Secret Sea and colored it with Light and Dark Lost Lagoon plus Mossy Meadow. That blend gives it such rich depth.

Then I added the sweetest little ladybug, stamped in Secret Sea and colored with black and Real Red. The sentiment “You brighten my day” fits this card perfectly.

The Nature Walk Designer Series Paper from the mini catalog gives this card such a fresh spring feel. It’s calm, classic, and a little bit whimsical.

This Handmade Card will Make You Smile

This might be my favorite “unexpected” card of the bunch.

The Capturing Smiles bundle is technically scrapbook-focused, but that film strip die? Oh my goodness. It makes amazing cards.

Instead of using patterned paper for the 1.25" strip, I created my own focal strip. I cut a piece of Basic White to 1.25" x 5.5", die cut three black film strips, and lightly penciled where I wanted my tiny scenes to go before stamping.

I stamped them in Tuxedo Black Memento and colored them with Strawberry Slush, Peach Pie, Pool Party, Azure Afternoon, Granny Apple Green, and Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends.

I masked part of the sentiment so it reads “Smile every day” and added tiny camera images plus Loose Valentine Assortment hearts. It’s playful and happy and feels completely different from the other cards – all using the same sketch.

That’s the power of a good card template.

A Handmade Card That's Filled with Sweetness

For this final card, I used the Filled with Sweetness bundle with the Homemade Sweetness Designer Series Paper.

The background features the jam jar print, and the gingham Misty Moonlight strip anchors the design beautifully.

Instead of using the large jar image, I stamped strawberries, blueberries, and little Strawberry Slush hearts. The sentiment “Love you berry much” is stamped on a piece of patterned paper that looks like notebook paper and then layered on cardstock.

It’s sweet. It’s simple. And it’s such a great example of letting patterned paper do the heavy lifting.
