If you love a card that makes people tilt their head and say, “Wait… how is that attached?” then you are going to love this week’s fun fold.

This floating cut-out design looks fancy, but it’s actually surprisingly simple. When the card is closed, you see a bold shape cut from the front. But when you open it, the focal image appears to float perfectly in that opening. It’s one of those quick, easy, wow cards that feels interactive without being complicated.

In today’s video, I’m sharing how to make this floating cut-out fun fold plus three totally different handmade cards using Stampin’ Up!® products – sporty, sweet spring, and adorable bugs. Be sure to scroll all the way down to grab the free downloadable project sheet with the instructions for making this card.

Video Tutorial for this Fun Fold Card

During this week's live (every Tuesday night at 8pm Eastern!), I showed you step by step how to do this fun fold. It's really quite easy, but one of those that's it's easier to see it done than read the instructions. Make sure to check out the full video replay.
Granny Apple Green soccer card made with the Match Day bundle and Match Designer Series Paper. Floating cut-out fun fold design with jersey and soccer ball focal point and “Match Day” sentiment.

Match Day Soccer Encouragement Card

This first card uses the Match Day bundle with the A Wonderful Match Designer Series Paper, and I kept the entire design in Granny Apple Green, Garden Green and black for a bold, sporty look.

The background is Granny Apple Green cardstock layered with the striped patterned paper. I stamped the jersey and soccer ball in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored them with Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends and Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends to add some depth and shading.

When you open the card, the jersey floats inside the cut-out window, and the sentiment says, “Let’s go!” It’s such a perfect encouragement card for a grandchild, niece, or nephew heading into a big game. Imagine slipping this into their backpack before a tournament. Instant confidence boost.

This is cardmaking that feels personal and meaningful.

Ladybug “Celebrate New Beginnings” Card

This sweet spring card uses the Springtime Scenes bundle with the Homemade Sweetness Designer Series Paper. I love how the patterned paper already features tiny ladybugs, which makes the stamped image feel completely coordinated.

The ladybug and sentiment were stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I stamped the grass in Granny Apple Green and colored the ladybug with Strawberry Slush Stampin’ Blends. That red against the soft peachy background just makes everything pop.

The circle was die cut using the coordinating Springtime Scenes Dies, and I added small die-cut white flowers along with the 2025–2027 In Color Flat Pearls in Strawberry Slush for a little shine.

When you open the card, the circle floats perfectly in the window. It feels dimensional and polished but still clean and simple. This would be beautiful for someone starting a new job, moving into a new home, or celebrating a fresh season of life.

Cute reading bug handmade card using the Sweet Bugs bundle and Cute as a Bug Designer Series Paper. Square floating cut-out window with layered focal image and “Love You Lots” sentiment.

Sweet Bugs “Love You Lots” Card

This one might be my favorite because that little reading bug is just adorable.

I used the Sweet Bugs bundle along with the Cute as a Bug Designer Series Paper. The center square was die cut using the Stylish Shapes Dies to create the floating panel.

The bug was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored with Gray Granite, Real Red, and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. I added a soft halo of Lemon Lolly around the outside of the image to help it pop off the white background – a tiny detail that makes a big difference.

The sentiment “Love You Lots” was stamped, cut apart, and popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals for extra dimension.

When the card opens, that square panel floats forward, almost like a little shadow box. It’s perfect for a child, a grandchild, or anyone who loves to read.
