Let Your Designer Series Paper Become the Artwork

Sometimes the Designer Series Paper is so beautiful that it deserves to be the star of the card.

For this card, I covered the entire card front with two coordinating patterns from the Violet Dreams Designer Series Paper. The soft floral print paired with the subtle geometric pattern almost reminds me of vintage wallpaper. A strip of Fresh Freesia Satin Ribbon covers the seam where the two papers meet and adds just the right finishing touch.

Instead of stamping the flowers, I die cut one of the larger violet images directly from the Designer Series Paper and layered it onto a Gorgeous Grape scalloped frame. Adding a few Adhesive-Backed Blooms to the flower centers gives the arrangement just a little sparkle while making it feel like a framed botanical print hanging on the wall.

The simple "I Appreciate You" sentiment finishes the card without taking attention away from the beautiful focal point.

Create Your Own Elegant Stamped Background

For the second card, I went in the opposite direction and skipped the Designer Series Paper completely.

Instead, I created my own background by repeatedly stamping the decorative frame in Gorgeous Grape ink onto Highland Heather cardstock. I filled the open spaces with the small dotted stamp from the set, creating a rich background without overwhelming the focal image.

The layered frame combines stamped and die-cut pieces in Highland Heather and Fresh Freesia, creating lots of dimension. The violets were stamped, colored with Stampin' Blends, die cut, and popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

To continue the framed artwork theme, I tied Fresh Freesia ribbon at the top so it looks like the picture is hanging on the wall. The Happy Birthday greeting completes this elegant birthday card.

Quick Cards with the Designer Series Paper Die Cuts

One of my favorite surprises in the Violet Dreams Designer Series Paper is the sheet filled with ready-to-use die-cut images.

This card uses several of those punch-out pieces to create a beautiful card with very little stamping. I used one of the decorative frames along with several of the violet and leaf images. Since these flowers don't have long stems, they remind me of African violets growing in a little pot.

After adding a Basic White oval behind the frame, I stamped the "Sending Love" sentiment in Gorgeous Grape. A strip of coordinating Designer Series Paper runs across the center of the card, while a touch of Fresh Freesia ribbon softens the design.

I also stamped the small dotted image along the top and bottom of the Gorgeous Grape cardstock for a little extra texture.

Dramatic Florals with Designer Series Paper

The final card lets the gorgeous Designer Series Paper shine once again - but with a completely different look.

The darker floral pattern paired with the coordinating dotted paper creates a dramatic backdrop for the soft Fresh Freesia oval. I stamped the "Sending Love" sentiment in Secret Sea ink before adding stamped, colored, and die-cut violets across one side of the oval.
The Adhesive-Backed Blooms fit perfectly in the flower centers, adding just enough sparkle without overpowering the design.

This card proves that simply changing the papers can completely change the personality of a card while using many of the same supplies.
