How to Use Blending Brushes to Create a Gorgeous Handmade Card

Beautiful Ombre Background

I created this gorgeous ombre background for this handmade card using blending brushes and Peach Pie, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, and Berry Burst inks. I started with the lightest color and then added the shades down the Basic White cardstock. 

After I laid down the first layer of inks, I went back over the colors working from the darkest to the lightest. This gave a really saturated background. Then, I flicked water from my Water Painter over the ombre and dabbed off the extra water. 

Get Well Card Idea

Here's an easy get well card idea using the Sketched Butterflies and Comforting Thoughts stamp sets with the Unbounded Beauty patterned paper. I stamped the butterfly with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored it with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers.

The Comforting Thoughts stamp set has so many sentiments that are perfect for get well cards, sympathy cards, and all those times when you just don't have the words. I embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder on Basic Black cardstock.

Thinking of You Card Idea

I love the sparkly butterflies on this thinking of you card! It doesn't show well in the photo, but the butterflies are glittery blue. I used Glimmer Paper for easy, no mess glitter. Then, I added the silhouettes over the top cut from Basic Black cardstock.

​The butterflies are layered on pieces of the Unbounded Beauty patterned paper from Stampin' Up!

Sometimes some really awful stuff happens and there really are no good words to say. We ran into one of those situations this summer and I stumbled over the Comforting Thoughts stamp set looking for the perfect sentiment. I had kind of overlooked it, but it's perfect! 

​I stamped the butterflies with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and then colored them with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers. I love how they pop!
