Love & Courage: Handmade Cards that Make a Difference

Crafting for a cause - now that’s something to get excited about! In this week’s On Y Go! Creative Corner, I’m sharing five card ideas featuring the Love & Courage stamp set from Stampin’ Up!® - including one full start-to-finish project you can make right along with me.

All of the cards I’m sharing today feature a bold and heartfelt color combo of Melon Mambo, Basic Black, and Basic White - with a little Pretty in Pink thrown in for good measure. These cards are clean, modern, and full of meaning.

Stripes, Dots, and Courage

This is the card I demonstrated in the video, and it’s a fun mix of pattern and texture thanks to the Stripes & Dots stamp set. This background set is actually made up of four separate pattern blocks - so you can use them together or individually. I stamped the stripes and dots in Melon Mambo ink on Melon Mambo cardstock for a subtle tone-on-tone background that still pops.

The main image from Love & Courage is half a sunflower and half a collection of empowering words: support, strength, heart, faith, resolve, fight, hope, courage, survivor, believe. I stamped just the sunflower in Melon Mambo on Basic White cardstock and cut it out. Then I stamped the words in Memento Black and highlighted “survivor” with a Light Melon Mambo Stampin’ Blend. It’s a small touch - but it says a lot.

Thank You with Heart

This soft and simple thank-you card combines Pretty in Pink cardstock, Modern Christmas patterned paper, and pops of Melon Mambo. I started by stamping the sentiment in black, then added the ribbon image in Melon Mambo - stamping it off once on scrap paper for a lighter pink that lets the words shine through.

Two black-and-white patterned papers add contrast and texture. For one, I used a blending brush to tint it with Melon Mambo ink - instant custom paper! A length of Pretty in Pink ribbon ties it all together for a feminine, heartfelt finish.

Simple & Strong

Clean, crisp, and powerful - this design lets the Love & Courage stamp shine. I used the black-and-white polka dot pattern from the Modern Christmas Designer Series Paper as my background. The sunflower and sentiment are stamped together in Melon Mambo on Basic White, then layered over a bold strip of Melon Mambo cardstock for contrast.

A trio of black matte dots adds balance and polish - proof that sometimes the simplest layouts are the most striking.

Hope Blooms

For this card, I wanted to highlight that beautiful half-sunflower image again, but without the text. Since the stamp itself is only half a bloom, I carefully positioned it so it stamped half off the edge of my Melon Mambo cardstock. The result? A background that looks intentional and artistic - you’d never guess it’s just one side of the stamp!

I added a strip of Modern Christmas paper (the same black-and-white polka dots) and brushed on Melon Mambo ink so it became pink with black dots. A little black and gold Baker’s Twine and a few black matte dots brought it all together.

The “hope” sentiment, stamped in Melon Mambo and popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals, finishes the card with a burst of encouragement and energy.
