I'm always looking for different ways to color or ink up my rubber stamps to create different looks. Here's a great rubber stamping technique using a glass mat and markers. This is so much fun for creating multi-colored images for handmade cards!

Do you love doing techniques like this? Each week, I share a printable project sheet in my Wednesday email that coordinates with that week's Stamp with Me Tuesday project. Make sure you're on my email list so you get each one.

I shared how to do this technique during this week's Stamp with Me Tuesday. If you missed it, you can catch the replay below. You'll also find the complete supply list and more photos and sample card designs. So, on y go! Let's get stamping.

Video Tutorial for this Rubber Stamping Technique

Here's the step-by-step video tutorial for this terrific technique! Use this technique with your own stamps and supplies to create a unique handmade card.
Use the glass mat coloring technique to create multi-colored butterflies with the Labeled with Love stamp set from Stampin' Up!®️ See the step-by-step video tutorial on how to create this handmade birthday card.

Handmade Birthday Card with Butterflies

For this card making technique, I used the Glass Mat Studio from Stampin' Up!®️ You could also use a Silicone Craft Sheet or other non-porous surface. You'll also need water-based markers like the Stampin' Write markers.

For this handmade birthday card, I used the Labeled with Love stamp set and punch. I colored with Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, and Berry Burst markers.

Winter Card with Multi-Colored Snowflakes

Choose three or more colors of markers. Start with the lightest color marker and color in small areas directly on the glass mat. Go over each area 2 or 3 times. Then, choose the next lightest marker and color in some of the white space between the areas. Finally, fill in the rest of the white space with the darkest colored marker.

This winter card uses the NEW Snowy Wonder bundle. This adorable bundle will be in the September-December 2024 Mini Catalog. We'll also be using it for the Fall 2024 Stamping Cross Country Online Retreat.

Create multi-colored images for your next handmade card using the glass mat coloring technique and the Leaf Collection stamp from Stampin' Up!®️ Want to know how to do this rubber stamping technique? See the video tutorial.

Create a Card for a Special Friend

After you've colored on your Glass Mat, apply your stamp to the inked area. Huff on the stamp a little to re-wet the ink, and then stamp on cardstock. You'll find that the images are more muted than the true colors. I find that you can use the same colored spot on your glass mat to do multiple images before needing to start over.

Why not create a handmade card for a special friend? For this one, I used the Leaf Collection stamp set in Pretty Peacock, Granny Apple Green, and Mossy Meadow. I finished the card using the Friends for Life dies.
