Watercolor Technique for Handmade Cards: Watercolored Die-cuts

I love the look of watercolor, but I'm not very good at painting scenes. Luckily with rubber stamps and dies, I don't need to paint my own pictures to get a watercolor look. During this week's Thursday Night YouTube Live, I shared how to watercolor die-cuts to create a gorgeous handmade card using the Beach Day bundle from Stampin' Up!®️

Watercolored Handmade Card

Here's the handmade summery card that I made during the live. I used the Beach Day stamp sets and dies from Stampin' Up! to create this beautiful beach scene.

I started by watercoloring pieces of Fluid 100 watercolor paper with Crumb Cake, Summer Splash, Pool Party, Lemon Lime Twist, and Granny Apple Green ink. Then, I die-cut the pieces for the sand, waves, palm trees, and beach grass. I pieced the different elements together to create this sunny day at the beach.

The sentiment is stamped with Pecan Pie ink on Basic White and punched with the Modern Oval punch.

But, I couldn't ignore the fun stamps that are in this stamp set! So, I stamped this scene with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Basic White cardstock and colored it with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers. 

I created the backdrop for both this card and the next card with the Country Woods patterned paper. I love the rustic feel of this wood grain image. It looks just like I imagine a fence at the beach would look.

Wish Someone a Beautiful Day with a Handmade Card

Here is a fabulous handmade card to simply wish someone a great day, whether it's their birthday, wedding, or just a regular Tuesday. 

I wanted to create the feel of a fence with the sky in the background through the patterned paper on this card. So, I used the Pool Party piece for the top and the Early Espresso piece at the bottom with the grain going vertically like a fence. I love how this piece of the paper has Petal Pink undertones.
