3 great faux watercolor techniques with the Wildflower Path stamp set from Stampin' Up! Includes cutting dimensions and a video tutorial.
When I was little, I always wanted to be an artist. I never had the patience to learn how to draw or paint though. That is why I love rubber stamping! It makes it so easy to create something beautiful and artistic without having to be able to draw or paint!

Today, I have three faux watercoloring techniques to share with you. These techniques are all easy and create beautiful results quickly!

You can do these faux watercolor techniques with any bold image stamp. I chose the new Wildflower Path stamp set from Stampin' Up!® These cards are done in the same color scheme of Old Olive, Melon Mambo, and Daffodil Delight.

I shared how to do these easy faux watercolor techniques in my YouTube live this week. If you missed it, check out the replay to see how easy these cards are to make.

You'll find more information and the supply list below.

So, on y go! Let's get stamping.

Technique 1: Stamp and Brush with Water

For my first faux watercoloring technique, simply stamp your images. Then, use a water painter to paint over the different colors with water. I used Basic White paper for these which means you don't want them to get too wet, but the ink will start to run with just a little water.

Old Olive Card Base: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", score at 4 1/4"
Basic White: 2 1/4" x 4 1/4"
Melon Mambo: 2 3/8" x 4 3/8"
Old Olive: 2 3/4" x 4 3/4"
Basic White (sentiment): 2 1/2" x 3/4"
Old Olive (sentiment): 2 5/8" x 7/8"
Add a touch of watercolor to the images from the Wildflower Path stamp set from Stampin' Up! by brushing them with water after you stamp. See the video tutorial and more watercoloring techniques.

Technique 2: Stamp on Wet

For the second faux watercoloring technique, brush a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor paper with water. Then, ink your stamp and stamp onto the wet paper. The ink will run a little creating a watercolor look.

Basic Black card base: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", score at 4 1/4"
Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper: 3 1/4" x 4 1/2"
Basic Black: 3 3/8" x 4 5/8"
Melon Mambo: 5 1/4" x 4"
Basic White: Cut with 2nd largest circle from Stylish Shapes dies

Technique 3: Spritz Inked Stamp

This last technique uses the Stampin' Spritzers (p. 129 of the 2022-2029 Annual Catalog). Ink up your stamp, then lightly spritz the stamp with water before stamping on Shimmery White cardstock. You may have to practice a bit with the Stampin' Spritzer to get the proper distance from the stamp for the amount of mist you want.

Old Olive card base: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", score at 4 1/4"
Shimmery White: 4 1/4" x 3"
Basic Black: 4 3/8" x 3 1/8"
Old Olive: 5 1/4" x 4"
Create a watercolor look with the Wildflower Path stamp set by inking your stamps and then spritzing with water before stamping. See more faux watercoloring techniques and video tutorial!
