3/31/2021

I have some easy card ideas for you today using the Butterfly Brilliance Collection from Stampin' Up! I love this new stamp and the coordinating dies. Sadly, the gorgeous Butterfly Bijou patterned paper has already sold out. But, if you already have some of this beautiful paper sitting on your craft table, here are some great ideas for creating cards with it. If you're not so lucky to have a pack of the Butterfly Bijou paper, you could make these cards with other patterned paper and the Butterfly Brilliance stamp set. So, on y go! Let's get stamping.
Easy congratulations card that would be perfect as a graduation card, wedding card, or baby card. This handmade card idea uses the Butterfly Brilliance collection and Happy Thoughts stamp set from Stampin' Up!

Dimensions for this Congratulations card Idea

This beautiful congratulations card, using the Happy Thoughts stamp set, would be perfect for a graduation card, a wedding card, or even a baby card.

Basic Black cardstock: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
Basic White cardstock (front): 4 15/16" x 3 11/16"
Basic White cardstock (inside): 5 1/4" x 4"
Basic White cardstock (cloud): 4 3/4" long, cut with the So Happy dies
Butterfly Bijou patterned paper: 4 3/4" x 3 1/2"
Basic Black cardstock: cut with the Brilliant Wings dies
So Saffron cardstock: cut with the Brilliant Wings dies

Supply List for these Butterfly Cards

I used a blending brush to add a little Mango Melody ink to the outside of the So Saffron butterfly. This gave the butterfly a yellow and orange look to it. I only glued the center of the Basic Black detailed butterfly so that the wings would pop up and give the butterfly dimension.

Simple Blue Butterfly Card Dimensions

This beautiful blue butterfly card is so easy to make! And the only stamping is the greeting on the inside. I cut the butterfly from the Butterfly Bijou paper with the Brilliant Wings dies. If you don't have the paper, you could stamp it instead, color it, and cut it.

Misty Moonlight cardstock: 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2"
Butterfly Bijou patterned paper: 3" x 5 1/2"
Butterfly Bijou patterned paper: 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Vellum cardstock: 3" x 3", cut with the Stitched Shapes dies
Basic White cardstock (inside): 5 1/4" x 4"
The dies cut the six butterflies from the Butterfly Bijou paper or the six butterflies from the stamp in one fell swoop. Since I had additional butterflies, I added them to the insides of these cards along with the sentiments from the Happy Thoughts stamp sets.

Slim Line Shaker Card is Whale Done

3/29/2021

I think that you'll agree that this slim line card is whale done! I made this card with the Whale of a Time suite of products. Sadly, the Whale of a Time patterned paper is discontinued, but this fun shaker card could be made with other patterned papers. This card idea uses the same dimensions as last week's Whale of a Time slim line cards. So, on y go! Let's get stamping.
Slim line card idea that is also a shaker card. This fun slim line card uses the Whale of a Time suite of products including the Whale Done stamp set from Stampin' Up!

How to make this shaker card

To make the shaker on this slim line card, I cut the Pretty Peacock cardstock with two of the Stitched Shapes circle dies. I also cut a piece of Foam Adhesive Sheet with the same circle dies. I cut a piece of Window Sheeting and a piece of the Whale of a Time patterned paper with the larger of the circle dies. I adhere the window sheet to the back of the Pretty Peacock circle, then I added the foam circle. I filled the circle with the Whale of a Time sequins before adding the patterned paper circle to the back.

I added this to the front of the slim line card. I added pieces of seaweed stamped in Granny Apple Green and coral stamped with Calypso Coral ink to the front of the circle. I embossed the greeting with white embossing powder and trimmed the end to match the end of the words. I added this to the front of the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

To create the leaves on this card front. I inked the stamp with Old Olive ink and touched the edges with Pretty Peacock ink. Then, I used a Stampin' Spritzer to spritz the stamp before stamping the leaves on the piece of Basic White cardstock.

Fun Fold Birthday Card

This z fold birthday card uses the same dimensions as above, but this time, I used the Hot Dog stamp set and the Playful Pets pattered paper. I colored the dog and balloon with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers. The dog is colored with Gray Granite and then I colored over it with the Color Lifter Stampin' Blend. This created the mottled look of the dog's fur. I tied a bow with the Playful Pets ribbon and attached it under the front image.

DragonFly Garden Fun Fold Card

My last sample card idea for this z fold card design uses the Dragonfly Garden stamp set and the Dandy Garden patterned paper. I stamped the wild flowers with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored it with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers. Because the images are so small, I didn't really do any shading on these images. I just carefully added a little Dark Daffodil Delight, Light Mossy Meadow, and Light Calypso Coral.

Slim Line Cards with the Whale Done Stamps are a big deal!

3/22/2021

Slim line cards seem to be all the rage these days, and these slim line cards are kind of a big deal with the Whale Done stamp set and Whale of a Time patterned paper. All three cards have the same basic layout and the patterned paper and whale punch make them so easy to pull together. I love the Whale of a Time patterned paper because it is so bright and colorful. Sadly, it will be discontinued in just a few weeks, so you'll want to grab some before it's gone. Ok, on y go! Let's get stamping.

Whale of a Time patterned paper: 3 1/16" x 2 9/16"
Whale of a Time patterned paper: 3 1/16" x 6"

Slim Line Thank You Card

I used Calypso Coral cardstock for the card base on this slim line thank you card. The layer under the Whale of a Time patterned paper is Mango Melody. The patterned paper on the bottom is embossed with the with the Seabed 3D embossing folder. I stamped the whale with Just Jade ink and punched it with the Whale Builder punch. The greeting is stamped with Just Jade ink as well and layered on a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock cut with the Stitched So Sweetly dies. I tied the front with White Crinkled Seam Binding and added Whale of a Time sequins.

This card is a Big Deal

This slim line card has a Just Jade card base and Granny Apple Green layer. I stamped the seaweed with Granny Apple Green ink, the coral with Pretty Peacock ink, and the seahorses with Just Jade ink. The sentiment is stamped with Pretty Peacock ink as well. The front panel is 3 1/4" x 2 1/8" and layered it on a piece of Granny Apple Green cut with the Stitched so Sweetly dies. Like the first card, I added a few Whale of a Time sequins for bling and some crinkled seam binding.

Thanks a Ton Card Idea

My last card has a Pretty Peacock card base with Pool Party layers. I cut the circle and the circle layer with the Layered Circle dies. The whale is punched from a piece of the Whale of a Time patterned paper. I punched the water from his blow spout from one of the water patterns in the patterned paper pack. I added a little Striped Blackberry ribbon. I love this ribbon because it is so easy to tie and makes beautiful bows!

I embossed the greeting with white embossing powder on Blackberry Bliss cardstock and trimmed it with my paper snips. Finally, I added a few more of the Whale of the Time sequins for a little bling, because who doesn't love bling?
