3 birthday card ideas using the So Much Happy stamp set and dies from Stampin' Up!
Last night was the December Card Class & Game Night. On the last Tuesday of each month, I offer a virtual card class in the On Y Go! Stamping Facebook Group. (If you'd like to join us for the January class, register here.) I choose a different stamp set or two each month and for December, I chose the So Much Happy stamp set and dies. This is a fabulous all-around stamp set for making birthday cards as well as other celebratory cards. So, on y go! Let's get stamping.
Fun birthday card idea using the So Much Happy stamp set and dies from Stampin' Up! This card has a cut out greeting on the front to reveal a layer of patterned paper below.

Birthday Balloons Card

This festive birthday card uses the coordinating dies. I cut the happy from two different colors. Once, from the card base which is Coastal Cabana and also from a separate piece of Bermuda Bay. I layered the Bermuda Bay piece under the card front and offset it slightly so that it appears as a shadow. The 6" x 6" Brights patterned paper is layered on the inside of the card base so that it shows through to the front. I also cut balloons and a string of pennants from this fun patterned paper.

Floating Away Celebration Card

I love the simplicity of this card. I cut a balloon shape from a piece of Whisper White cardstock. I stamped the greetings on the cloud and adhered it to a Whisper White card base using Stampin' Dimensionals. I stamped three balloons on the right side of the card base and added strings using a Gray Granite Stampin' Write Marker.

Birthday Stars Card

For my last card, I stamped the happy multiple times in Melon Mambo on a Melon Mambo card base. I stamped each happy twice so that the colors are faded on some of them. I added banner of 6" x 6" Gorgeous Grape patterned paper. I cut the end of this piece using the cloud die to give it a rounded edge. The greeting is stamped on Whisper White cardstock with Melon Mambo and Gorgeous Grape. I adhered it to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals and added stars cut from Daffodil Delight patterned paper.

I remade the last card using Pacific Point and Granny Apple Green instead of Melon Mambo and Gorgeous Grape. For the patterned paper, I used the new 6" x 6" patterned paper that will be available in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. You can get these awesome patterns now when you purchase the Stampin' Up! Starter Kit!

Ok, let's see my sample card ideas using the Well Suited suite. On y go! Let's get stamping.

Birthday card idea for a guy with a shirt front, suspenders, and a snappy bowtie. This masculine card idea uses the NEW Well Suited suite from Stampin' Up! and the Approaching Perfection Sale-A-Bration stamp set.

Well Suited to Perfection Card Idea

The Well Suited suite includes the Handsomely Suited stamp set, the Suit and Tie dies, the Well Suited patterned paper, and a twin combo pack in Basic Gray and Night of Navy. You can use the dies to cut out the stamped images or on their own to create a suit front or shirt front.
For this card, I cut the suspenders from a piece of the paisley patterned paper using the dies. I also added the buckles cut from silver foil. I cut the rectangle for the shirt, the color, and the placket from a piece of checked patterned paper in the suite. I added Basic Gray buttons. The die for the button cuts six buttons at once! Finally, I stamped the bowtie on Whisper White cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored it with Pool Party Stampin' Blends.

I built the shirt front on a piece of Basic Gray cardstock and then on a Pool Party card base. The sentiment is from the Approaching Perfection stamp set which I got for FREE when I purchased the Well Suited suite. This stamp set has some really fun birthday sayings!

Bowtie Birthday Card Idea

I just can't get enough of these bowties! I stamped them repeatedly with Pool Party ink on a piece of Pool Party cardstock which I layered on Basic Gray. I adhered a piece of pin-stripe patterned paper from the Well Suited Designer Series Paper to the Pool Party card base. While the Handsomely Suited stamp set has a happy birthday sentiment, I chose to use the one from the Approaching Perfection stamp set. I stamped in Basic Gray ink on Whisper White and layered it on a piece of Basic Gray cardstock.
Handmade birthday card idea for men using the Handsomely Suited stamp set from Stampin' Up! with a fabulous bowtie and the Nearing Perfection Sale-A-Bration stamp set.

I wrapped a piece of the Basic Gray twine around the Pool Party layer before adhering it to the card front. I tied it in a big loopy bow. Then, I stamped the bowtie with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Whisper White cardstock and colored it with Pool Party ink and cut it with the Suite and Tie dies. I added the bowtie over the bow in the twine using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Fabulous Tie Card design

For my final sample, I stamped one of the two straight ties in the stamp set with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a piece of Whisper White cardstock. I colored the ties using Stampin' Blends in Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, Granny Apple Green, and Highland Heather. This front panel is layered on a Basic Gray card base.
Like the other two cards, the sentiment for this card is from the Approaching Perfection stamp set. It says: "So what if you're a year older. You're fabulous!" I stamped it with Memento ink on Whisper White cardstock and layered it on Highland Heather cardstock. I placed a layer of Basic Gray cardstock on the card front and added a twine bow. Then, I adhered the sentiment over the bow using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Lots of Sample Card Ideas from the NEW Mini Catalog and Sale-A-Bration

12/23/2020

Lots and lots of sample cards using stamps, papers, and embellishments from the new 2021 January-June Mini Catalog and Sale-A-Bration Catalog
I am so excited to share this giant stack of swap cards I received last week using all NEW products from the 2021 January-June Mini Catalog and Sale-A-Bration Catalog. Over the next couple of months, I'm going to be sharing my Top 10 Favorite Things About Being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.

Number one on the list is the community of amazing crafters I get to hang out with. Stampin' Up! Demonstrators are some of the awesomest people I know! Through Stampin' Up! events and online groups, I have connected with so many fellow demonstrators and created lasting friendships.

The best things about being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. Top on the list is the community of other demonstrators.
One of the things Stampin' Up! Demonstrators love to do is swap cards. Whenever a group of us gets together, you'll always see demonstrators exchanging handmade cards with one another. It is so much fun to see all of the fabulous cards that other demos create and to get new ideas. (We've been doing this since before Pinterest!) Since we couldn't get together in person this fall, we had virtual swaps.
Thank you card idea using the new Simply Succulents stamp set and dies from the NEW 2021 January-June Mini Catalog.
I made 25 of these cards using the new Simply Succulents stamp set and sent them to the person in charge of the swap. She sorted through all of the packets of cards she received, shuffling them all. Each person received a bag of cards back that were all different because they were all from different Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from across the country. How awesome is that?

So, on y go! Let's check out all the cards that I received!

Zany and not so Zany Zebras

12/21/2020

Have you seen the Zany Zebra stamp set? This is a perfect stamp set for beginners with a variety of sentiments and a little easy coloring. But, it's also a fabulous stamp set for experienced stampers as well. Today, I have two cards to share using the Zany Zebras stamp set, one has a definitely zany zebra and the other has a zebra who's a little more straight laced. So, on y go! Let's get stamping.
Birthday card ideas using the Zany Zebras stamp set from Stampin' Up!

Black and White Zebra Card Idea

My first card uses one of the pieces of plaid patterned paper from the Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper pack. This is my absolute favorite pack of patterned paper from the 2020 August-December Mini Catalog and it will be gone at the end of December. So, if you love it as much as I do, you might want to pick up an extra pack or two before it sells out.

Picture
I stamped the zebra using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored it using the Gray Granite Stampin' Blends alcohol markers. I used the dark marker over his stripes and the lighter one in the white areas of the zebra. I added a hint of Flirty Flamingo to the insides of his years and his mouth. I also stamped a little grass shadow under his feet using Old Olive ink. I cut the zebra out using the Layering Circle dies.
I embossed the happy birthday sentiment with white embossing powder on Basic Black cardstock. I tied a bow of black bakers twine and placed it under the sentiment. I pulled the black baker's twine from a past Paper Pumpkin box. (One of the awesome things about getting Paper Pumpkin in the mail is getting embellishments that aren't available in the catalogs!)

Cutting Dimensions for This Black and White Zebra Card Design

  • Basic Black:
    • 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
    • sentiment: 1/2" strip
  • Plaid Tidings patterned paper: 5 1/4" x 2 1/2"
  • Whisper White:
    • 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" cut with the Layering Circle dies
    • interior: 5 1/4" x 4"

Wild & Crazy Zebra Card Idea

My second zebra is a kind of a punk zebra with his rainbow mohawk and stripes. All he needs is an earring. I stamped this zebra with Tuxedo Black Memento ink as well and colored it with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers in a rainbow of colors - Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, and Highland Heather. I added a little Gray Granite in the white areas of the zebra.

For the background, I began by stamping a variety of sentiments on a piece of Poppy Parade cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Then, I embossed this piece of Poppy Parade cardstock with the Brick and Mortar 3D embossing folder. Finally, I swiped it with my Poppy Parade ink pad so that some of the bricks are darker than the others. I added two strips of 6" x 6" Brights patterned paper in Granny Apple Green and Bermuda Bay. I tied a piece of gold cord from the Forever Greenery Ribbon Combo pack around the piece of Bermuda Bay patterned paper. I cut the zebra using the Layering Circle dies and adhered it to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals. I adhered this entire card front to a Poppy Parade card base using Stampin' Dimensionals as well.
I lined the card with a piece of Whisper White cardstock and added an additional greeting and some stars. What a fun birthday card to send to a fun person!

Have you seen the Peony Garden Suite of products?! They are absolutely gorgeous and are found in the 2020-2021 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog on pages 82-83. While the entire collection of stamps, dies, papers, and embellishments is fabulous, sometimes I think we forget that patterned paper can be used with other stamp sets than those in the suite. Today, I have created three cards using the Peony Garden patterned paper in the Stampin' Up! equivalent of the 2021 Pantone Colors of the year. So, on y go! Let's get stamping.

2021 Pantone Colors of the Year

Pantone just released their 2021 Color(s) of the Year. Normally, they only choose one color each year, but this year, they have chosen two colors - Ultimate Gray and Illuminating. When I saw them, I immediately thought of Basic Gray and Daffodil Delight from Stampin' Up! So, those are the two colors I chose for today's cards.
