Card making ideas with the Plaid Tidings patterned paper and the Rooted in Nature and All Things Fabulous stamp sets from Stampin' Up! These easy card making ideas use a card sketch as a base.
I love, love, LOVE the Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper pack from Stampin' Up! This amazing patterned paper is absolutely gorgeous. The color combinations are stunning and work for any season, even though this paper pack is in the August-December Mini Catalog. There is such a variety of color combinations from bright, to earthy, to black and white. If you love plaid, this 6" x 6" paper stack is for you!

I'm hopping with the Pretty Cards and Papers International Design Team again today. I love blog hopping with these fabulous designers! This month, everyone is using either the Plaid Tidings or the Gilded Autumn patterned papers. Both of these paper packs are awesome and the handmade cards that everyone has made with them are fabulous too! I hope you'll take a few minutes and click through the whole hop to see all of their work. You'll find the full list of designers at the end of this post.

So, on y go! Let's get stamping.
Card sketch for a quick and easy card design.

Cutting Dimensions for this Simple Card Design

Card Base: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
Colored Cardstock:
  • 1 15/16" x 3 15/16"
  • 2 11/16" x 3 15/16"
Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper:
  • 1 3/4" x 3 3/4"
  • 2 1/2" x 3 3/4"
Whisper White: 2 1/2" x 2 1/2"

Simple Card Idea with the Rooted In Nature Stamp Set

For my first card sample, I combined the Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper with the Rooted In Nature stamp set. This set of rubber stamps has coordinating dies. As a bonus, the set of dies has dies that emboss the veins of the leaves that match the stamps and can be combined with the cutting dies or used separately. Here, I stamped the leaves with Blackberry Bliss and Melon Mambo ink on Bumblebee and Melon Mambo cardstock. I cut the stamped leaves as well as two vellum leaves using the dies. Then, I ran the leaves through again with the embossing dies to emboss the veins into the leaves as well. It's a little hard to see, but it adds beautiful texture to the card.

I stamped the greeting from the Peaceful Moments stamp set with Blackberry Bliss ink on a Whisper White circle cut with the Stitched Shape dies. I adhered the leaves under the sentiment and added a bow made with Linen Thread. Then, I adhered the greeting circle using Stampin' Dimensionals over the ends of the leaves and the center of the bow. To finish the card, I added some Bumblebee Enamel Dots.

Fabulously Plaid Birthday Card Idea

My second card uses a plaid design that is primarily Rich Razzleberry with Bumblebee. I stamped the flowers from the All Things Fabulous stamp set with Rich Razzleberry and Bumblebee to match the patterned paper. The leaves are stamped in Shaded Spruce ink. Once again, I used a sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set and stamped it in Rich Razzleberry on a Whisper White circle cut from the Stitched Shapes dies.
The bow on this card is gold cord from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo pack. I also added a few iridescent pearls which work perfectly on this card.
