Card Sketch: Banners

I love this sketch from last night's Mystery Stamping. It is a great way to show off pretty Designer Series Paper and use up scraps of paper as each strip is only 1" x 2". I used a couple of new packages of DSP from the upcoming August-December Mini Catalog. There are so many amazing patterned paper packs in this upcoming catalog! You are going to love them! So, on y go! Let's get stamping.

Cutting Dimensions:
Cardstock: 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”
Cardstock: 1 ¾” x 5 ½”
Whisper White or Vanilla cardstock: 1 ½” x 5 ½”
Patterned Paper: (7 pieces) 1” x 2” of various coordinating patterns

My two Christmas cards use the 6" x 6" 'Tis the Season DSP. This paper has some fabulous patterns that are perfect for Christmas or whenever. There are some designs that have Christmas imagery - candy canes and such - but much of it is just gorgeous Shaded Spruce, Garden Green, Cherry Cobbler, and Real Red patterns.

For the greeting on these cards I used the soon-to-be-released Peace & Joy stamp set. I didn't use them for this project, but this stamp set has matching dies as well that cut out the larger words: joy, peace, and bright. There are three dies for each word. One cuts the stamped image, one cuts a larger border, and the third cuts a skinnier version of the word. This way, you can use the dies with or without the stamps. The stamp set also has some branches, holly, berries, and line-burst type images that could be snowflakes perhaps or stars or just make a glow around words. But what is really great, are the smaller negative-image block words that go along with the three larger words.

My third card features the Plaid Tidings DSP that will be in the new August-December Mini Catalog. These plaids are awesome! I chose ones that used Mango Melody and Rich Razzleberry, but there are lots more to choose from and I probably could have chosen four or five different color schemes to use for this card with this paper. The colors are just so beautiful. I want to gobble it up.

To go with the fabulous paper, I used the Pattern Play stamp set. And, I added a few of the adhesive backed sequins. These things are the bomb! They are so iridescent and sparkly and they already have adhesive on them. So you just have to peel them off the backing and put them down on your card. So easy and so pretty! If you haven't picked up a pack yet, you should definitely add them to your next order. They are hands down my favorite embellishment right now. I just wish there were more colors!

For my final card of this series, I tried really hard to use up the rest of my scraps of the Flowers for Every Season DSP. I had a lot of 1/2" strips. So, I made a lot more skinnier banners than the original cards. I finished the card with the To a Wild Rose stamp set and some Bumblebee gingham ribbon.

This sketch was so much fun to work with! I can't wait to see what all my Mystery Stampers created with it.
