Card Sketch: Ornament Cards

Holiday card design featuring 2 Christmas ornaments using the Poinsettia Petals, Christmas Gleaming, and Coming Home stamp sets from Stampin' Up!
Here is a simple card sketch and instructions to create an ornament card using a 2" circle punch. You could create a similar effect using a slightly different sized circle using either a punch or dies. It would look great with two different sized circles as well! This card design idea is quick and easy to make and can be done with a variety of stamps and patterned paper.

Cutting Dimensions for this easy Card Design Idea

Cardstock: 8 ½” x 5 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”
Cardstock: 3 15/16” x 5 3/16”
White or Vanilla Cardstock: (2) circles approximately 2” inches.
Patterned Paper (holiday or basic pattern): 3 ¾” x 5”

Instructions for creating this easy Christmas  Card

  1. Fold the piece of 8 ½” x 5 ½” cardstock in half on the score line to create a card base.
  2. Stamp an image or multiple images on one white or vanilla circle. Color if needed.
  3. Stamp a sentiment on the other white or vanilla circle. 
  4. Adhere the piece of 3 ¾” x 5” patterned paper to the piece of 3 15/16” x 5 3/16” cardstock.
  5. Adhere the piece of 3 ¾” x 5” patterned paper to the piece of 3 15/16” x 5 3/16” cardstock.
  6. Cut a piece of ribbon long enough to go from the center of one circle over the top of the piece of 3 15/16” x 5 3/16” cardstock.
  7. Lay the ribbon on the piece of 3 15/16” x 5 3/16” cardstock where it goes. Lift off the circle and tape down the end with a small piece of Scotch tape.
  8. Wrap the ribbon up over the top of the piece of 3 15/16” x 5 3/16” cardstock in a straight line and secure it on the back with another piece of Scotch tape.
  9. Adhere 1 circle in place over the end of the taped ribbon.
  10. Set the other circle in place and place the ribbon. Adhere the ribbon like you did for the first circle.
  11. Adhere the second circle in place with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  12. Tie two bows. Adhere them to the tops of the circles using mini glue dots.
  13. ​Adhere the card front to the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Love this simple idea! What a great way to use up DSP scraps, too. Very elegant and yet easy. TFS.
