Cardmaking Technique: Paper Piecing

I love the new Delivering Cheer stamp set in the August-December Mini Catalog from Stampin' Up! It is one of the stamp sets that jumped out at me the first time I flipped through the catalog. It has some fun images that you can mix and match to make holiday cards or tags for Christmas gifts. And it is perfect for using the paper piecing cardmaking technique. I love this rubber stamping technique for coloring in images because it is easy and super cute! So, on y go! Let's get stamping.

How to do the paper piecing technique

This card making technique is so easy! You need a line art stamp where there is a large open space. Like the skirts in the Delivering Cheer stamp set. Simply stamp the image on patterned paper and fussy cut right on the stamped line or just inside. Then, stamp the image again on Basic White cardstock and adhere the patterned paper piece in the correct spot.

Christmas Card Ideas

After stamping the image with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and adding the patterned paper, I colored the rest of the image. For the Christmas card above, I used a Water Painter and reinker to color. For the red Christmas card to the left, I colored the rest of the image with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers.

For some added sparkle on this card, I added some Wonderful Snowflakes. These iridescent foil snowflakes are so shimmery and pretty!
