Samples of a simple card design using patterned paper scraps and patterned paper packs from Stampin' Up!
Today, I have easy card making ideas for what to do with paper scraps. I've shared ideas for using scraps before, but it's always good to have more card making ideas for patterned paper. Do you have lots of bits of patterned paper? Perhaps you do scrapbooking and have lots of pieces left from your beautiful scrapbook paper. Or maybe you just have lots of paper scraps from cardmaking. These clean and simple cards (or CAS cards) are easy cards to make and use up lots of patterned paper scraps. So, on y go! Let’s get stamping.
Easy card making idea using patterned paper scraps and the Brights 6x6 patterned paper pack from Stampin' Up!

Cutting dimensions for this simple card design:

Whisper White or Very Vanilla cardstock:
8 ½” x 5 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”
5 ¼” x 4”
1 ¾” x 6”
Patterned Paper: (10 pieces) ½” x 3” – Note: These do not have to be ½” wide. Any width from about ¼” x 1 ¼” will work and you can mix and match widths.

How to make this easy card:

Start by putting adhesive on your piece of 1 ¾” x 6” piece of Whisper White or Very Vanilla cardstock. Then, adhere a strip of patterned paper across this piece of cardstock at a slight angle starting at one corner. The strip should hang off both the top and bottom edges of your strip of cardstock. Add additional strips of pattern paper next to this first strip, butting the edges together. Continue across your piece of 1 ¾” x 6” White or Vanilla cardstock.

Once it is covered, turn over your piece of 1 ¾” x 6” White or Vanilla cardstock. Trim the edges off the patterned paper to align with the edges of your White or Vanilla cardstock. Adhere this strip of 1 ¾” x 6” White or Vanilla cardstock at an angle to your piece of 5 ¼” x 4” White or Vanilla cardstock with the edges of the patterned paper parallel to the edges of the 5 ¼” x 4” White or Vanilla cardstock. The edges of your patterned paper strip should hang off your card front.

Turn your card front over and trim the edges of the patterned paper strip. Finally, adhere your card front to your White or Vanilla card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
For my first card, I used the Brights 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper and for the second card, I used the Whale of a Time DSP, and my final card uses the Forever Greenery DSP. All of these awesome patterned papers are from Stampin' Up! I added greetings from coordinating stamp sets in inks to match the pattern paper.
