I'm not sure if you'd classify this as a card layout or a cardmaking technique, but Color Blocking is so easy and creates absolutely stunning handmade cards! Whether you decide on a black background or a white background, you're sure to create a gorgeous card. Plus, it's super simple to do!

I shared these cards as part of my monthly Mystery Stamping online event. Every Tuesday night, I make cards for you to make along with me and once per month, usually the 2nd Tuesday, we do Mystery Stamping. If you missed it, you can find the replay and more photos below by click Read More.

Create along with me!

During Mystery Stamping, I gave step-by-step instructions for creating these cards. So where's the mystery? I didn't share my card designs until the end. If you want puzzle of playing along, be sure to join me next month for my next round of Mystery Stamping.
If you're looking to make a card that will truly wow the recipient, look no further! The color blocking technique and the Stampin' Up!®️ Forever Fern stamp set, Forever Flourishing dies, and a simple

Striking Greens on Black

My first sample uses the Forever Flourishing dies and the Forever Ferns stamp set. For both of these cards I used Granny Apple Green, Parakeet Party, Coastal Cabana, and Bermuda Bay cardstock to create the striking triangles of color.

Then, I layered the pieces on Basic Black. I cut the beautiful fern silhouette from Basic Black as well and embossed the sentiment in white on black.

I will be sending the Quick Reference Guide for this gorgeous card in this week's email newsletter. Sign up to get it!

Same beautiful card layout, different color

This beautiful handmade card is the same basic layout and colors as the previous card, but this time, I layered it on white instead of black.

Which do you think is more striking - The white or the black?

This card uses the Ginkgo Branch stamp set and dies for this card. Tip: For delicate die-cuts like this one, put adhesive sheet on the back of your cardstock before you cut it out. It will make it so much easier to adhere to your card.
