Did you know that you can use your Stampin' Write markers to color directly on stamps? This is a great way to create a multi-colored stamped image. You can use this rubber stamping technique to create beautiful rainbow images and it works fabulously on large background stamps. So, on y go! Let's get stamping.
Create colorful handmade cards by coloring on rubber stamps with markers. This fun card making technique makes it simple to create multi-color images. Samples with the You Are Amazing and Spiral Dye stamp sets from Stampin' Up!

Handmade Rainbow Card Design

This technique works better with rubber stamps like Stampin' Up!'s Cling stamps instead of clear photopolymer stamps. The ink from the markers distributes itself more evenly on the rubber than it does on plastic. This is one of the why to have some rubber stamps instead of all photopolymer stamps.

Here, I used the You're Amazing stamp set from the 2021-2022 January-June Mini Catalog. I layered strips of patterned paper on a piece of Basic White cardstock to create a rainbow background.

How to color on rubber stamps

This cardmaking technique is very easy! Rub the brush tip of the markers over the rubber stamp. It's generally best to start with lighter colors and then move to darker colors. You can gently blow on the stamp to help moisten the ink and then stamp on your paper.

For this tie-dye card, I misted the stamp with water after I colored it with markers. This helped the colors run together more.
