Easy card making ideas using paper scraps from patterned paper
Have you every wondered what to do with paper scraps? Here are some simple card making ideas for all of those pretty patterned paper or 12x12 scrapbook paper scraps that you just can’t send to the dustbin. These are easy cards to make and look gorgeous when you’re done! So, on y go! Let’s get stamping.
All of these paper scraps cards use the Whale of a Time Suite from Stampin' Up! Included in the suite is the Whale Done stamp set, the Whale of a Time 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper, the Sea Bed 3D Embossing folder, a spool of 3/8" Pool Party Sheer Ribbon, and the Whale of a Time Sequins. I think I used all of these awesome Stampin' Up! products in these three cards!

Paper Scraps Thanks

My first easy card making idea using scraps of pattern paper has a Balmy Blue background. I have arranged 1” square pieces of paper scraps into a diamond pattern across the front of the card. I layered this card front on a piece of silver foil. I added some metallic edge ribbon tied in a not and a whale to the front. The whale was stamped in Balmy Blue with Pacific Point ink sponged on the edges. Then, it was punched with the Whale Builder punch from Stampin’ Up! I stamped the sentiment “Thanks a ton” under the knot of the ribbon and added some of the Whale of a Time sequins.

I Love Paper Scraps

The next super simple card making idea that I have for you also uses 1” paper scrap squares of the Whale of a Time pattern paper. This time I chose patterns that were more colorful and incorporated Pretty Peacock, Granny Apple Green, and Calypso Coral. I tiled the paper scraps along the left side and layered it on a piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock. This is layered on a piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock that has been embossed with the Seabed 3D embossing folder. I stamped the “My LOVE for you is bigger than the ocean” sentiment three times on Whisper White card stock using Granny Apple Green, Calypso Coral, and Pretty Peacock ink. I cut out the “LOVE” from each one and used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere them to my card front. Finally, I stamped some hearts using Calypso Coral ink and fussy cut them out. Then, I added them to my card front to accent the words. This was such an easy card to make!

Paper Scraps can be a Big deaL

It’s amazing how these paper scraps from patterned paper can make such a big impact. For my final paper scraps card, I adhered five 1” squares of the same Whale of a Time patterned paper to a piece of Pool Party cardstock to form an L. Then, I stamped the sentiment with Pretty Peacock ink on Whisper White cardstock. I cut it out in a square and added it to a square of Pretty Peacock cardstock. This square was the perfect size to fit in the corner of the L of paper scraps to create a large square. I mounted this square on another square of Pretty Peacock cardstock. The card front is Pool Party cardstock that has been embossed with the Seabed 3D embossing folder. I added some of the sheer ribbon tied in a bow on the front. To finish this paper scraps card off, I adhered the card front to a Pool Party card base.
