Create a colorful background for your next homemade card with this easy rubber stamping technique: watercolored embossing. Brushing a array of color onto an embossed surface gives the backgrounds of these simple handmade thank you cards a unique look.

I shared how to do the watercolored embossing technique during this week's Stamp with Me Tuesday YouTube Live. You can watch the replay below.

I'll also be sending out the project sheet for this technique in my weekly newsletter this week. You can join my newsletter list here.

Ok, on y go! Let's get stamping.

Here is the replay of the YouTube live from Tuesday where I shared exactly how to do the watercolored embossing technique.

Floral Thank You Card

To create this beautiful watercolor background, start by embossing a piece of watercolor paper with an embossing folder. A 3D embossing folder will work best for this technique.

Then, pick three colors of ink. Tap the ink onto your glass mat or a clear block. Use a water painter to add water to the ink and pick it up. Brush the watered down ink across the watercolor paper. It will flow into some areas and leave some of the indentations white.

A Note of Appreciation

For the previous card, I embossed the watercolor paper with one of the Basics 3D embossing folders. I used the Softly Said stamp set for the sentiment with the Just My Type stamp set for the small flowers. Both are from Stampin' Up!®️ I brushed Berry Burst, Melon Mambo, and Pumpkin Pie ink over the watercolor paper.

This next card uses the Distressed Tile 3D embossing folder and the Filled with Happiness stamp set, also from Stampin' Up! The watercolor is Parakeet Party, Tahitian Tide, and Starry Sky.

Sunny Thank You Card

This last thank you card uses an interesting color combination of Petal Pink, Calypso Coral, and Pumpkin Pie to create a sunny backdrop. I embossed the watercolor paper with the Layered Florals 3D embossing folder.

I love the font on the sentiment for this card. This stamp comes from the Filled with Happiness stamp set.
