Do you have something sitting in your craft room that you haven't gotten around to using yet? For me, it was these Artistic Mix Decorative Masks. But, I finally pulled them out and I'm so happy that I did! I used them to do a reverse masking technique on these handmade cards and it turned out so cool!

While you can do the reverse masking technique with any stencil, these layering stencils provided an extra cool result.

I have the full video tutorial for this technique below as well as more photos and information on these sample card designs. Just click "Read More." Ok, on y go! Let's get stamping.

Video Tutorial for this Reverse Masking Technique

This reverse masking technique is so easy and I walk you through it step-by-step in this video tutorial. All you need is some white cardstock, stencils, blending brushes, and 4-6 colors of ink.

Autumn Leaves in Stenciled Plaid

To do the reverse stenciling technique, start with a piece of Basic White cardstock. Then, add 3-4 colors of ink using a blending brush. For this card, I used Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, and Poppy Parade.

Then, lay one of the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks over the cardstock. I like to adhere the edges with tape so it doesn't move. Then, add a darker color. For this handmade card, I used Cajun Craze. Add a second mask and a darker shade like the Early Espresso that I used on this card.

Create a Beautiful Background for a Handmade Thank You Card

For the card above, I used the Autumn Leaves stamp set and dies to finish off the card. This gorgeous bundle will be available in the 2023 September-December Mini Catalog.

For this handmade thank you card, I used the Gorgeously Made stamp set and dies. I started by laying down areas of Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lime Twist, and Coastal Cabana. Then, I added Lost Lagoon after the first mask and Pretty Peacock after the second.
