Nothing's Better Than: The Stampin' Friends July Blog Hop

I love blog hop week! Today, I am excited to be hopping with the talented designers of the Stampin' Friends Blog Hop. If you're already going through the hop, you've joined me from Kim Lamos's awesome site. The theme this month is "Anything Goes," so there is a variety of awesome projects on everyone's site. I love the new Nothing's Better Than stamp set, but it's so hard to choose whether to use coffee, chocolate, cocktails, or cookies for my cards. So, I made a spinner card so I could use both chocolate and cookies on one card. Then, I decided to make an awesome fridge magnet using the same design. This way, you can choose whether it's time for coffee or time for cocktails!

Card Cutting Dimensions:
Crumb Cake:

• 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"
• Two circles cut with the Layering Circles dies

Soft Suede: 5 1/4" x 4"
Whisper White:

Petal Pink: 

Start by stamping and decorating the two circles - one for cookies and one for chocolate. Using a circle die that is one size larger than the crumb cake circles, cut a hole in the center of the piece of 5 1/4" x 4" Soft Suede cardstock. Then, lay your card open on your cutting plate. Place the piece of Soft Suede where it will go on the card front. Add the circle die back in place and cut a hole from the Crumb Cake card base. You may want to use some washi tape to hold the die in place. 

On the front of your Crumb Cake card base, mark the top and bottom center of the circle hole. Also, mark the center line from top to bottom on one of the decorated circles. Add Tear & Tape along the center lines as shown to the right. 

Take off the backing to the tape and add a piece of thin string or thread. Hold it tight and add a second piece of Tear & Tape on top of it. 

Add more tape to the back of the circle and add the other circle on top of it. Then add additional tape to the front of the card base. Be sure to keep the tape away from the edges where the Crumb Cake will show. Then, adhere the Soft Suede card front. 

Finish the card by adding the strips of writing and a few of the star images. Decorate the card interior being careful to not stamp around the circle where it will show through to the front of the card. 

To activate the spinner, twist it up tightly and close your card. Whoever opens the card will be surprised as the center circle spins between chocolate and cookies. 

I created the magnet using the same technique. It won't spin, but you can choose whether it's a coffee day or a cocktail day by lifting the magnet and turning the center circle. I added a little extra shine to the cocktail and coffee cups with some shimmering Crystal Effects.

• Circle cut with the Layering Circle die
