Punched Tags

While we technically still have a few weeks of summer, fall seems to be in the air - at least here in Michigan. These cute tags would be perfect for Halloween or Back to School. And they were so easy to make!

I used the new Harvest Hellos (150581) stamp set that is in the Stampin' Up! Holiday catalog coming Wednesday. I stamped the pumpkin on Mango Melody cardstock using Pumpkin Pie ink and the apple on Real Red cardstock using Cherry Cobbler ink. To give dimension to the pumpkin, I shaded the edges using the Mango Melody Stampin' Blends. Similarly, I shaded the apple with Poppy Parade Stampin' Blends.

After I stamped the image, I used the scoring blade in my paper cutter to score a line just above the top of the pumpkin. On the apple, I wanted the tag to fold on the side, so I scored a line just to the left of the apple.

Then, I folded the paper in half and got ready to punch. There is a punch (150663) that matches this stamp set and punches both the pumpkin and the apple. They are sold in a bundle for 10% off (153037).
When I lined up the punch. I made sure the folded edge of the paper was not going to be punched. It's hard to see, but if you look carefully, the fold is below the upper edge of the punch.

When I punched it out, it was the perfect little pumpkin tag that opens on the top. I also stamped and punched a stem and leaves to add to the top of the pumpkin and apple.

Then, I used my black Momento ink pad to stamp the face on the pumpkin and a greeting on the inside of both of the tags. I used a 1/16" hole punch to punch a small hole on the fold of each tag and threaded a piece of linen thread through the hole to complete the tag.
