Quick and Easy Cards with Patterned Paper Scraps

Quick and easy cards based on a card sketch that uses patterned paper scraps. Great way to use up your leftover scrapbooking paper.
I LOVE patterned paper! Like, really, really love patterned paper. It's just so pretty. It's like going to a fabric store. I think I would be a quilter if I had more patience and could commit to projects that take a lot of time. I love the patterns and combining patterns, but the sewing, not so much. But patterned paper! It's all the gorgeousness of the prints that I can use to make quick and easy cards.

It's so hard to throw scraps of beautiful paper away, so I'm always looking for new ideas to use them. This card design is so quick and easy to pull together and a great way to use scraps of patterned paper or scrapbooking paper.

We made this card for this week's Mystery Stamping event. You'll find the basic dimensions by clicking read more, a free downloadable quick reference guide with the card sketch, and the complete supply lists for all of these cards. You can also watch the replay from this week's Mystery Stamping YouTube live if you'd like to hear more about each card.

Ok, on y go! Let's get stamping.

Paper Scrap Card Idea

This card uses the beautiful Texture Chic specialty paper from Stampin' Up!® I love the texture and patterns on this paper, plus the gold touches. It's so pretty! And perfect for a wedding card like this one. I wrapped some Soft Succulent ribbon around the card and tied it with some gold cord from the Simply Elegant Trim. I pulled out the center of the gold cord to make it less bulky and frayed the ends to match the shabby feel of this shabby chic paper.

Just Saying Hello with a Quick Card

The more I use the Butterfly Kisses patterned paper, the more I love it! I made two very different cards with this paper using the same basic card sketch. I finished this card with a sentiment from the Simply Fabulous stamp set. If it wasn't for this patterned paper, I never would have combined Calypso Coral and Parakeet Party!

An Amazingly Simple Card Design

I couldn't resist using the Amazing Phrasing stamp set to create this quick card. You can get these stamps FREE during Sale-A-Bration. I paired the stamps with the Tea Boutique patterned paper. For this card sample, I changed up the basic design and used a rectangle that I cut using the Stitched Rectangle dies. I tied some of the Natural Ribbon on one end with a piece of the gold cord. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite card embellishments.

Card Idea for Your Bestie

Here is my second card design idea using the Butterfly Kisses patterned paper. I just love the bright colors! Again, here is a color combination that I would never have created myself: Parakeet Party, Calypso Coral, and Crushed Curry. With a little Starry Sky thrown in the mix. It is definitely bright and cheery!

Flip the Card Sketch

For my last sample card idea using this easy card sketch for scrap paper, I decided to flip the design and make a vertical card instead of a horizontal card. I also added a couple of die-cuts as additional embellishments.

The paper is the Abigail Rose patterned paper and the sentiment comes from the Blessings of Home stamp set. The die-cut flowers were made with the Meadow dies. I colored them with Stampin' Blends. For the flower in back, I cut it from Petal Pink cardstock and colored it. Then, I spritzed it with some rubbing alcohol which let more the petal pink show through. A very cool look and happy accident!
