Here is another oldie, but a goodie rubber stamping technique - Cracked Glass. This card making technique creates the look of art behind vintage broken glass. It's not super quick, but it's not hard. It just involves a lot of head embossing!

If you missed my Stamp with Me Tuesday live video where I shared this card making technique, check out the replay. You can see all the embossing and cracking.

I also have a free downloadable quick reference guide for this technique below. Click on the read more link to find it.

For the broken glass technique, start by stamping an image and coloring if needed. My samples use the Ranunculus Romance stamp set and the Simply Succulents stamp set.

Then, open up your Versamark ink pad and lay the cardstock on top. Push down and move the cardstock around to get Versamark all over the front of the cardstock. Add clear embossing powder, tap off, and heat set with your heat tool. Do this a second time.

Just keep embossing...

Once you've added 2-3 coats of embossing powder, you won't need to use more Versamark if you move quickly. Dump clear embossing powder of the heated image. Tap off and heat set again. In total, you will need to do 10-15 layers of embossing powder.

After you've finished the layers of embossing powder, let the image cool completely. You can even pop it in your freezer for a few minutes to speed up the process.

Now the fun part of the technique

When it has completely cooled, gently bend the image to get it to crack. It might not crack in every area. Just keep trying different areas. If you've tried a bunch and it's still not cracking, you may need to add a couple more layers of embossing powder and let it get cold again.

Finally, take a sponge dauber and rub some dark brown ink over the image to get a little ink in the cracks and help them show more. When you're done, wipe off the image with a tissue to remove the extra ink.
