Use vellum and a simple rubber stamping technique to make elegant clean and simple cards (CAS). Vellum is perfect for adding elegance to handmade cards, but sometimes it can be a bit tricky to work with. This simple card making technique using vellum and heat embossing is easy to do, but does need a little drying time.

I shared how to do this technique during this week's Stamp with Me Tuesday Terrific Techniques. And I have a FREE downloadable quick reference guide for the technique below. You'll also find the complete supply list for these sample cards when you click "read more."

If you missed my YouTube live, you can watch the replay to see exactly how I made these CAS cards.

To create these cards, you just need a little vellum, some Basic White cardstock, white embossing powder, Versamark ink, a heat tool, additional ink pads, and a couple of basic dies or punches that are the same shape in two different sizes.

Ok, on y go! let's get stamping.

Simply Fabulous Thank You Card

I used my current favorite stamp set for this first double stamped vellum card, the Simply Fabulous stamp set from Stampin' Up!®

I stamped the flowers and embossed them with white embossing powder on vellum. Then, I turned the vellum over and stamped leaves in Parakeet Party and Shaded Spruce. Then, I let it dry. The dye inks on the back will take a while to dry - ask me how I know. lol.

I cut the frame using the Stylish Shapes dies and adhere the vellum to the back of it. Then, I raised it up on Stampin' Dimensionals to give depth behind the vellum. I finished by stamping the simple "thank you."

Delightful Thoughts Card Idea

This card uses the Splendid Thoughts stamp set. The embossed image is a line image and a little hard to see in this photo, but I love the bright Parakeet Party and Bermuda Bay behind it.

I stamped the sentiment in Bermuda Bay on Basic White and cut it out. Then, I adhered it over the frame around the vellum and used Stampin' Dimensionals on the right side to hold it up.

Botanical Layers Card Design

My final sample card design uses the Botanical Layers stamp set. I stamped one leaf on the front and embossed it with white embossing powder. Then, on the back I stamped a different, bolder leaf in Mossy Meadow.

Again, I stamped the sentiment on a piece of Basic White with Mossy Meadow ink. I left it as a strip and adhered it to the card front letting it extend off the side of the frame.
