Simple Card Sketch for Quick Cards

For last night's Mystery Stamping event, we created cards using 5 strips of Designer Series Paper, a focal image, and a simple greeting strip. These cards are quick and easy and a great way to show off patterned paper while still using a stamped image.

Cutting Dimensions:
Cardstock: 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”
Cardstock: 3 7/8” x 2 ¾”
White or Vanilla cardstock:

3 5/8” x 2 ½”
½” x 4 ¼”

Patterned Paper: (5 pieces) 1” x 4 1/16” of various coordinating patterns

I used 5 strips of Designer Series Paper for my cards, but you could use solid colored cardstock as well. Maybe a rainbow?

My first card uses the new Life is Beautiful stamp set (more samples coming with these stamps on Friday!) and the Plaid Tidings 6" x 6" DSP. I stamped the tree trunk with Soft Suede and added Mango Melody and Cherry Cobbler leaves. For the birdhouse, I carefully covered the two birds with washi tape, inked the birdhouse, and then peeled off the tape before stamping. This kept the birds from being inked and appearing in my stamped image. The focal image is cut with the Stitched So Sweetly dies.

My second card uses the new Tree Angle stamp set and the 'Tis the Season 6" x 6" DSP. This DSP only uses two shades of green and two shades of red. This means it was easy to pull out 5 different patterns that were all Cherry Cobbler and Real Red to create a tone-on-tone background. I love the mix of patterns that isn't distracting because it's all the same color. I added a star to my center tree from the All the Trimmings Embellishments.
