Simple Cardmaking with Versamark Ink and a Card Sketch

Easy card sketch for creating handmade cards with Versamark ink.
I have another simple card sketch for you this week. This one uses strips of colored cardstock and versamark ink to create a simple background for a sentiment. I have lots of samples for you below, so be sure to read through to the end. Plus, I have a quick-reference guide that you can download and print to save this card sketch for future inspiration for your card making.

This week's Stamp with Me Tuesday was Mystery Stamping and the mystery cards were based on this sketch. It works with any type of stamp and only uses a couple of ink pads which makes it perfect for simple stamping and beginning stampers. But, the results are so beautiful that even the most advanced card maker will want to try it!

If you missed the Mystery Stamping live, you can still watch the replay and play along.

Ok, on y go! Let's get stamping.

Super Easy Handmade Birthday Card

This bright and cheery handmade birthday card uses the new Sending Smiles stamp set from Stampin' Up!® I layered strips of Melon Mambo, Flirty Flamingo, and Mango Melody on Granny Apple Green. Then, I stamped over them with Versamark ink. This special ink will leave an impression that is slightly darker than the cardstock.

I simply stamped the sentiment in Melon Mambo and Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Basic White. Then, I adhered it to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Be sure to download the quick-reference guide for this card sketch to keep all of the dimensions and instructions handy!

Easy handmade cards using the Ranunculus stamp set and dies from Stampin' Up! These pretty floral cards are based on a simple card sketch and use Versamark ink to create a beautiful background.

Basic Cutting Dimensions for this Simple Card Design

Here are the basic cutting dimensions for this simple card layout:
  • Cardstock: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
  • Cardstock: 5 1/4" x 4"
  • 3 different colors of cardstock: 3/4" x 4"
  • White or vanilla cardstock: die-cut or punched label or tag
  • White or vanilla cardstock: 5 1/4" x 4" (interior)

Floral Cards with Ranunculus Stamps

These two cards use the Ranunculus stamp set and coordinating dies. I stamped a collage of images on the Pale Papaya, Calypso Coral, and Petal Pink cardstock. Then, I cut the large ranunculus with the dies from Calypso Coral, Petal Pink, and Old Olive. I sponged a little Versamark ink around the edges to add shading. The sentiment is stamped on a tag cut with the Tailor Made Tags dies from Basic White cardstock.

Flip the Card Sketch

I did my second sample in much the same way, but I flipped the sketch. Instead of having the colored cardstock on one side, it is now on the bottom of the card.

I stamped the ranunculus flowers with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored them with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers.

Stepped-Up Version of a Simple Card

This card sample using the Hello Ladybug and Slim Sayings stamp sets is slightly stepped up from the previous samples. After I stamped the flowers with Versamark ink, I embossed the whole piece of Crumb Cake cardstock with the Gingham embossing folder.

Simple Card with the New In Colors

Here is another simple version of this card sketch. I created this birthday card with the Artfully Layered stamp set. I used four of the new In Colors from Stampin' Up!: Parakeet Party, Starry Sky, Tahitian Tide, and Orchid Oasis.

For the sentiment, I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock with the Stylish Shapes dies.

Beautiful cards.. I love the subtle look. I need to use Versamark ink more often. Thanks for sharing.
