Do you love patterned paper? Have trouble throwing scraps of it away? Yeah, you, me, and pretty much every card maker. It's just so darn pretty! Here is a fun card idea for using up some of those paper scraps. It is the Strip and Flip card making technique. (Yeah, the name sounds a little racy, but this card is just plain fun.)

I shared exactly how to do this technique during this week's Stamp with Me Tuesday. Each week, I go live on YouTube on Tuesday night to share a project that you can stamp right along with me using your own stamps, papers, and supplies. (If you're not already subscribed, you might want to pop over and subscribe to my channel so you're always notified when I go live.)

Each week is either a terrific technique, fabulous fun fold, Mystery Stamping, or that month's Online Card Class. (Speaking of which, have you registered for October's Big Hooray class?)

If you missed it, you can watch the replay here. I also have a FREE downloadable quick reference guide for you below so that you can remember this technique later when you're looking for inspiration. Ok, on y go! Let's get stamping.

The Strip & Flip Card Making Technique

The Strip & Flip technique is so easy to do! Just grab some strips of patterned paper. You'll probably need about 10-12. They should be 1/4" - 3/4" in width and at least 4" long. I used varying widths on my cards, but you could use the same width for all of them. If you use skinnier strips, you'll need more of them.

Adhere the strips to a piece of Basic White cardstock that is 5 1/4" x 4". I like to put Multipurpose glue all over the piece of white and then add my strips. This way, I can slide them a little if I need to.

Easy Christmas Card with Paper Scraps

You want the strips of patterned paper to be right up against each other without overlapping. It doesn't matter if the paper hangs off the edge of the Basic White.

After you have adhered all of your patterned paper to the piece of Basic White, trim the extra off of the sides. Then, cut a 3/4" strip and a 1/2" strip off the Basic White. Cut an additional 1/8" sliver and discard. Adhere the three pieces to your card front, flipping the 1/2" strip so that it goes the other direction.

Thank You Card with this Card Technique

For this Thank You card, I did a little variation on the technique. I adhered the strips diagonally to two pieces of Basic White and made sure that the diagonals were going opposite directions.

Then, I cut the pieces of Basic White. I swapped the 1/2" strip from the cards so that I could create a herringbone effect on the card front. Such a simple variation with a beautiful effect!
